From 1979 - 1982 there was only ONE minimal synth / industrial band in MICHIGAN...and that band was ZYKLON... About 10 years ago I was lucky enough to find a tattered copy of their lone 7 inch on GRIM RECORDS.... I was FLOORED to realize that this band was playin this CREEPY SHIT about a half hours drive from where I had grown up. These midwest dudes had a seriously STRANGE take on the synth/industrial sound. Killer washes of heavy electronic noise connected by buzzes of minimal melodic synth and truly dismal and dry half-sung vocals w/ occasional call and response..ruling especially on their classic WIR SIND. Totally WEIRD SHIT that sounded like nothing else. This CD is a heavy historical document of MICHIGAN NOISE. I hope the boys plan on letting more some of their unreleased gems out of the vault..

'Putrefier aka Mark Durgan has been an active member, albeit below the radar, of the U.K. noise scene since the inception of Putrefier back in 1986. Firstly, starting with his own Birthbiter label which as well as cassettes also was one of the first distribution services to start importing ZSF, Selektion and many Japanese oddities into the UK. Keeping a low-profile has enabled Putrefier to work at his own pace and keeping to his own vision. Throughout the last twenty years records and cassettes have been limited but this latest release should be the start of a fresh outburst of activity. This boxset though is the latest release on Harbinger Sound a label with whom he has had a working relationship with now for many years.
