'After a new ‘rock’ 10-inch EP co-released earlier this year by Black Rose Recordings and an also resurrected Broken Flag, Second Layer Records are extremely proud to present Valediction - the first all new Ramleh album since 1997, and the first new power electronics recordings from the project for 25 years. And yet Valediction is no ordinary 'power electronics' record, nor is it anything as straightforward as simply a return to their roots. Valediction is very much an entity of its own – both consolidating and expanding upon everything Ramleh have touched on in the past, but also digging into entirely fresh ground for the band. Valediction is, perhaps, Ramleh’s most bleakly psychedelic creation so far. Comes in a 4-panel gatefold sleeve with 8 page booklet with photos and cut-up lyrics from some of the tracks. Limited to 1000 copies. '---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

Barrikad is the sound of young Sweden. The raging youthful energy of anarchist noise as presented by Barrikad. Three tracks of splendid energetic white-hot scorching electronics dealing with the frustration and despair of what passes for everyday life for modern man in a consumerist society. Neurology 2 is most likely the last of Death Squad's recordings. The most current name has changed to MK9. Hydra is Greg Scott who was also a member of the power electronics project Final Solution from New York. Vocals by G. Scott and electronics by Death Squad. Extremely bass-heavy and dense electronics gnawing on the top of your vertebrae, a worthy conclusion to the saga of the criminally underrated genius of DEATH SQUAD. Wake up... ---label description |

Master Control was meant to hurt, and it did. It still does. Now 20 years later it comes across as a work of true and deeply original vision. Even better than the first time. Obviously it takes its departure from the Iphar/Whitehouse/Broken Flag-tradition, but rapidly takes a weird turn and ends up somewhere else; at the very edge of a completely unknown territory. The unspeakable mad landscapes of HP Lovecraft seems to be one point of reference, snuffmovies by Brazilian deathsquads another. And plenty of attitude in between. Sure, it?s the work of a mad man, but it?s also the work of a stunningly apocalyptic genius; it will likely blow your mind as it did mine. This is extremely powerful stuff. I never quite recovered from this one. ---Tommy Olsson //// Master Control contains the original c-60 plus a 10 minute bonustrack recorded in 1988. FUCKING KILLER! |

'These strangely cinematic and abrasive droning landscapes of impending doom made up from analog synths are the work of David Reed, for some perhaps known from the plausible Luasa Raelon project. The sparse, cold, minimal pieces reminds us of early industrial-era electronic artists such as Maurizio Bianchi and Lustmord, but also gives hints to the works of Klaus Schulze and early Tangerine Dream. Without doubt presenting a vile and nightmarish vision of a territory where noone can be trusted and there's nowhere to hide – this certainly is bleak post-apocalyptic music. Limited to 300 copies in pro-printed black/white matte covers.'---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

'On the theme of alchemy and the topics of shame vs. bodily self infliction, IRM makes way for a new start after the inspired 'Virgin Mind' double-disc set from 2005. These are new recordings with the new member Mikael Oretoft joining on bass. Two long tracks - the first being an intense up-building, deep pulsating number with both spoken and rough vocals, volcanic exaggerated bass noise and doom-laden atmosphere. The second more of an aftermath with its downspiralling, almost dreamy character of echoing tones, ripping clangs and chilling audio-schmerz. In total over 23 minutes of music in a glossy colour sleeve with gross artwork and a small insert. Edition of 500 copies.'---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

'The most extreme and outstanding music from Sweden. Desire, despair, disgust, destruction & death - The Sound of RJF. This is the real thing, no false grace or hypocrisy. RJF get their inspiration from the sickness of mankind. This is not about music, this is survival and fighting back. A cock down the throat of morality. A knife in the back of society. RJF create their own values. Control & Knowledge.'---Text from the original 1983 press release. We might not have put it as poetic but when we found the old press release we couldn't resist the beauty of the text. The sounds on this disc drag you all the way back to the chilly gutters of early 80's fierce electronics. Menacing and mechanical noises, grating rhythms pick on your nerve endings, this is a sinister reminder that something was alive back then, something that is missing now. This CD-reissue of the old LP has been re-mastered from vinyl since the master tapes are missing and is packaged in a 12-page booklet A5 sleeve with lots of pictures, liner notes by Kristian Olsson and original art made by Leif Thuresson. Edition of 500 copies.---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

'Please get ready for a true heavy weight team-up on this split LP. Testicle Hazard (Lasse Marhaug + Tommi Keränen) deliver a side-long orgy of blistering fuzzed-out heaviness. This is a duo that has very quickly proved that they are indeed capable of producing some truly ear-shattering noise bliss - two noise maestros doing what they love and live for, and you can feel privileged to indulge in the result of their hard work. Golden Serenades (John Hegre + Jørgen Træen) immediately locks into a devastating groove (for lack of a more suitable term), and a terribly convincing assault of metal clattering and a non-stop moving mass of forceful sonic onslaught of the highest order. When these Norwegian lads team up, you can expect nothing less than noise nirvana. If you have yet to experience the thrill of Golden Serenades, this is where you get *on*.'---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

Seriously one of the BEST comp LP's to be released in QUITE SOME TIME. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED LP of excellent Swedish noise... SOON TO BE A CLASSIC.---AD 'Four lenghty tracks from four Swedish experimental groups in tribute to the god-forsaken land we call Sweden - or, Höga Nord if you wish. From BOCKSHOLM's structured and up-building jackhammer mechanics, onward with DUSA's moody downer-beats from the outskirts of hell - further down the road NIELLERADE FALLIBILISTHORSTAR's abstract and ghostly metal junk/cymbal ambient to VÅRTGÅRD's heavy and painful death industrial - this is a record that follows an unknown path, where grey and depressive specimen without contrasts makes a subliminal whole. For sure not the full-on noise Segerhuva perhaps is known to release but a beautiful and deranged journey through our native mushroom woods and what one can find if taking a leak on a small highway side-track somewhere outside of Skara. Edition of 300 copies in printed black and white matte sleeves with insert. ---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

'First vinyl outing for Peckham based Chora, compiling out of print tracks from cdr albums released between 07 & 08. All the tracks were conceived in Sheffield as a trio of Ben Morris, Rob Lye and Chris Boyd at the furniture makers workshop / Chora practise space, culled from long nights of jamming, eating house special fried rice and drinking wheat beer. The record displays the bands revolving approach to composing, improvising & recording, with sounds moving between shingled skeletal percussion & kitchen sink gamelan to electronic attack & ecstatic vocalisation. Another long awaited reissue from Aube. METAL ON METAL (as for AQUA SYNDROME) was published by MANIFOLD records. Also for this work, over the original album, you can hear a bonus track and a full live CD. To the discovery of the alchemical secrets and the magic of the metallic materials, of their acoustic characters, and the possible technological manipulations on the sounds that are possible to pull out... It arches of it resonances, mantric vibrations, hypnotics bells rings... That features of sounds of cymbals, plates, rings... that tubular elements are used or more ordinary and simple metallic objects of common use... that they are bowed or scraped..., Aube acquires the sounds and of it transforming its essence... decomposing and recomposing the shape... Fragmenting, expanding, stratifying and elaborating the sonorous matter, constructs complexwafts, resounding weaves carpets, interlaces thin threads of metallic tensions, crumbles and agglomerates acoustic particles, leaves to flowlong, reverberating, harmonic drones... Metal on Metal, two only, fantastic CD for and a matchless release ---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

An unusual self-portrait of Maurizio Bianchi in a minimal and introspective version, a discreet sonic self-portrait, elaboratedwith soft and nearly abstract electronic sketches, cyclical waves, tangles of intersected sounds, stratified, continuously changing, manipulated and molded through uses of effects, filters, reverbs, choruses, delay... Expanded paces, rarefied and apparently quiet atmospheres, but at the same time always full of a constant sense of gravity and heaviness, of vulnerability, always on the extreme border of the abyss that leads towards the unknown, the dark, the not to be defined and the mystery...---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

Decomposition instead that composition. De-structured music that instead structured music. Not to complex and articulated technologies forrecording, mixing of the parts and mastering; not to onesophisticated production and maniacal and defined participations correct in post-production... This the new challenge capacityto the extreme limit from Maurizio Bianchi, a new musical effort, directed, raw, immediate, absolutely uncompromising new, to outsideof every law and from every pre-constituted rule... Fragments ofmusic, short fragments of sonorous material of varied extraction, now short, now long, placed in sequence one behind the other,in a dry way, following absolutely unforeseeable times and dynamics. Continuous loops, raw unexpected cuts, noise alternated to musical parts, single sounds, drones, notes of piano, buzzes, soft pads, electric current workers... Two long traces, 75 minutes, a listening experience over any edge and reliable definition.---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

Coming as a wonderful digipack CD, these six tracks collected from his very first cassette releases (Murderfuck, Mafarka, Anal Perversion, Host Sodomy, From Homicide to Slaughter) are released in a completely restored and remastered edition that finally does justice in full to the incredible and futuristic visions of one of the most significant Italian experimental artists of the last thirty years. 'The Japanese guitarist Tetuzi Akiyama performs an improvised set as a duo with Canadian percussionist Jeffrey Allport on July 1, 2006. This recording is of the first and only time these two well-regarded improvisers have ever played together. Living on opposite sides of the Pacific, this show became an opportunity for Allport and Akiyama to each perform some of their most advanced techniques in improvised music with a player whose style was truly compatible. Allport approaches every side of his drum, the rim, the snares, the steel clamps, and of course, the skin to produce a challenging repertoire of sounds that defy the drum's gambit, segues from Tibetan drones to electronic clicks and cuts, distant steamships to nearby popcorn. Akiyama's preternatural improvisations along the neck and body of his guitar meditate patiently on each bluesy sound, almost as if his fingers were playing along the surface of a slow-moving river. Every note that Akiyama plays becomes a sensational interruption causing ripples, splashes, and oxbows in the flow of the music. Performed live at a sold-out Western Front, Vancouver's oldest and most significant artist-run venue, Akiyama and Allport propose a rich new vocabulary for music. Two tracks on vinyl mastered by Toshimaru Nakamura. This LP documents an unprecedented collaboration between two modern masters of far left improvisation.'---LABEL DESCRIPTION.
