'A tangled mess of SYNB (Matt Brinkman, i.e Meerk Puffy) reworking HSDOM materials and HSDOM reworking SYNB's 'BLACK/GOLD CHIP'. Modular synthesizers, deeply processed audio, puddles of destroyed samples feature with heavy bassdrum beats, white noise washes and a gnome clapping in the abandoned freight elevator tunnel. Packaged in a self assembled, razor scored, letterpressed silver on black, blind embossed, gatefold with insert. One of our Favorite releases of the new century. Edition of 200. 'Birchville Cat Motel is the project of New Zealander Campbell Kneale, who has from his base in Lower Hutt since the mid 90-ies established himself as the leading voice of this generation of NZ sound artists. Gunpowder Temple of Heaven is a new highlight in his extensive discography. A single 40 minute long-form piece that keeps building and unfolding; heaven for drone-noise enthustiasts. The CD comes with a booklet with a complete Birchville discography as well as liner-notes by Bruce Russell. From the liner notes of Bruce Russell (The Dead C): 'I've been listening to the music of Campbell Kneale for more than a decade now. Recently I've been listening with a sense of increasing admiration as he stacks up monumental sound slabs in an architecture of audition - building a lofty tower of sound. Always a dedicated worker at whatever he does, Campbell had mastered the detailed work required to place many sounds accurately across each another. Often this kind of 'more is more' strategy backfires into murky sludge, where the increasing layers merely obscure each other. On the contrary, the more BCM puts into a piece, the more you hear coming out.'---LABEL DESCRIPTION mp3 samples: MP3 Excerpt |

'Hijokaidan has since 1979 been one of the leading voices in Japanese noise music. Starting out with a broad line-up of performers, eventually in the course of the 80-ies the Hijokaidan sound became easily identifiable with the shredding guitar-sound of band-leader Jojo Hiroshige and the high-pitched piercing voice of Junko. Few noise acts have such an instantly recognizable (and intense) sound. Although Hijokaidan's status as noise superstars they rarely perform outside Japan. The pleasure was then ever greater for the All Ears festival in Oslo Norway to present Hijokaidan at their festival in january 2006. Polar Nights Live documents these historical and astonishing performances.'---LABEL DESCRIPTION mp3 samples: MP3 Excerpt |

'Hild Sofie Tafjord has been known to the public for over a decade as part of projects like SPUNK, Fe-Mail (her duo with Maja Ratkje), Agrare (Fe-Mail with dancer Lotta Melin), Trinacria (Fe-Mail with black metallers Enslaved) and collaborations with Birchville Cat Motel, Wolf Eyes, Matmos, Ikue Mori, Otomo Yoshihide, Carlos Giffoni, Zeena Parkins, Fred Frith and countless others. She has released albums on labels like Asphodel, Rune Grammofon, ECM and Gameboy Records. Her main instrument is the horn, but other acoustic instruments as well as metal objects and noise electronics has always been an intregral part of her pallet. Hild Sofie Tafjord is, quite simply, an amazing performer, composer and improvisor with a broad musical range. A monumental 41 minute colossal single-track of an album recorded in the period from summer 2006 to february 2007 during dark nights in her studio in Oslo. KAMA is mostly made from the sound of her french-horn; although if you didn't know it you probably wouldn't have guessed. Layers upon layers of distorted, processed and mangled pieces of sound form a consistent stream of sonic bliss. Within this massive sound-construction slowly shapes build into an epic climax. The title KAMA hits at few interpretations. A quick wikipedia search tells us that KAMA could be a number of things; a double edged dagger, iron pots used in tea ceremonies, and indian for lust (as in kama sutra). Well, who cares what it means when it feels and sounds this good?! Hild Sofie Tafjord's debut album is here, and it has been worth the wait.'---LABEL DESCRIPTION mp3 samples: MP3 Excerpt |

'Raw and mangled guitar explorations from the undisputed champ of current six string skronk. Furious brutal guitar damage recorded directly to tape. A unique take on guitar death with an element of the classic no rules approach. Don't miss this guy on the road jammin' solo or in free music gangs like trauma (with Ben Hall).'---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

'It's hard to ever take Ryan aka Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman too seriously. In fact, he calls Wolfenstein 3d his 'new age' album. It's not all that new agey but it's definitely new territory. He brings a stellar focus to his usual barrage of bizarre electronics and droning that will make you sea sick and in awe of his mixing mastery. Full Color art + comes with 3D GLASSES!---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

'A really intense pair of (what im assuming is) live to tape improvisations recorded as a trio featuring Crystal Dragon. Intense zone explorations here. No suprise on the metaphorical heaviness of this cassette, but from a project has become so synonamous with DRONE , this tape suprsingly has a classic electronics vibe to it. They use dense droning only as a means to hang an overall zone one the track. in which they can expand upon. Drunjus' expansive sound creates an almost overwhelming microcosm of interacting patches and vibrant riffage all under a weird but cozy blanket of hums. The enchanting melodies that start off the tape nicely contrast the b side, which comes on nice and slow with sedate electronics and pulsating sounds. The two contrasting tracks can still be easily taken as one whole messed up piece. Unsettling drones wash in and out of the entire tape and really melt the aural senses.'---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

'Electric Marsh is a hot slab of disgustingly likeable psychedelic mess. Clattery Squelches of electronics and sax. Dan D's current jams (in acts like Uneven Universe, Body Morph, Cardboard Sax) are some of the sickest in the midwest. The rising sun of ferndale, some say. Anything that he touches turns to absolute gold, showing incredible control on the most bizzzzare zones. Couldn't be more stoked to drop this one.'---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

'The Original Ugly Man' SHERRIFF JAKE FIELDS - 'FANS EATING DOG BISCUITS IN FORTY BELOW WEATHER WITH NO SHIRTS ON' Who is THE SHERRIFF? No one knows really. In fact, after being given his demo cd by a friend some years back, I began my search for him by asking local rappers, promoters and googling the hell out of every name he drops on the e.p. Nonetheless, After all this time I felt like the word needed to be spread about this guy.You gotta hear it to believe it. Certain tracks feature unknown musicians such as DJ White Lightning who creates some of the most INSANE trax on which the Sherrif uses his words to create the bleakest but most brutally honest and dated picture of Cleveland . 2x8 = 216?????'---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

'In 2008 the Henie Onstad Art Centre invited musician and composer Lasse Marhaug to explore its audio archive. From the opening in 1968, Henie Onstad was intended as a cross-artistic arena, and soon became the leading arena in Norway for experimental art in all genres. The archive contains over 800 tapes of recordings done in the centre's concert hall and in the Norwegian Studio for Electronic Music, which was located at the centre between 1975-1978. The music ranges from recordings by Karlheinz Stockhausen, Jan Garbarek, Laurie Anderson, Mauricio Kagel, Webster Lewis, Terry Riley, Svein Finnerud Trio, Heinz Holliger, Bjørn Fongaard, Steve Reich, Karin Krog, Soft Machine, Julie Driscoll, Jokke and Arne Nordheim. The idea was not for Marhaug to make a 'remix' of this unique archive of music history, but to use the recordings as raw material for a new piece of music. Therefor musical trainspotters trying to identify the original artists will have a hard time as Marhaug has surgically sliced and diced the recordings to (mostly) unidentifiable fragments before constructing his own piece. The result of Marhaug's explorations/exploitations is titled Ear Era. This is the CD version (500 numbered 'regular' copies and 50 deluxe box-sets). The piece was also presented in three different concert-versions at the Henie Onstad Art Centre in the course of 2008.'---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

'I used to buy and collect Smegma rockets when younger, so i'm really happy to release an LP by this really far out band, especially since they played with my friend Perry, who is one of the most versatile musician i had ever met ! Smegma is a kind of cult mob in the US experimental underground, based in Portland, Oregon, they started back in the early 70's and got connections with the Los Angeles Free Music Society (Tom Recchion, Joe Potts, Le Forte Four, Airways, Doo-Dooettes, Ace Farren Ford and even The Residents); they also got an amazing label called Pigface... here they played some jazz for the year 3018...'---LABEL DESCRIPTION |

'By now Ahlzagailzehguh has become established as one of the current leaders of harsh/cut-up noise. Misinterpreted Injury, his first release on the 7'' format deals with the trauma associated with the loss of a kidney at the age of 9. It consists of four meticulous side long tracks that display complete control of left-right speaker counterpoint, frequency manipulation, and overall compositional form. This is not your typical harsh noise study, but a true masterwork. The artwork was designed by James himself and is pro-printed folding on cardstock with front, back, and inner design. The first 7'' is translucent red and the second is translucent yellow, both featuring printed labels. The first 90 copies from me come with an authentic x-ray sheet insert. 'His schematics for sound circuitry scarily parallel his diagrams for princeps in Nature and he really will swap circuit designs for your plant specimens. Peter Blasser's Din Datin Dudero, Tranoe, Ambrazier, and Rollable Synth behave differently depending on who plays them; hearing an instrument tangle with its creator... now that's plain spooky. One call-and-response erupts in a scream that couldn't have come from either! Insane sing-songs succumb to faceplants in jagged sinewaves that scurry off under fuzzed brain hum.
